UMM Agro-Industrie

We hold the maize chain end to end: agronomic advice to growers, collection, drying, storage and first-stage processing.

Our story

Extending what we know about maize to the first stage of processing

UMM, Usine Moulin Maïserie Agro-Industrie, is a Malian family business founded in 2017 and specialised in maize processing. It covers the chain end to end, from grain supply through to putting finished products and co-products on the market.

We work as a value chain: selecting and securing the maize supply, organising storage, processing the raw material, then offering products suited to the needs of distributors, food manufacturers, livestock operators and consumers.

Our maize comes exclusively from conventional, non-GMO seed that meets the requirements of the regulations in force.

Promoter & Managing Director

A vision serving quality, innovation and development.

UMM is led by Mr Soumaila Diakité, a Malian entrepreneur from the very area where the plant stands, with long-standing knowledge of the maize chain, its growing areas and its main players.

He has worked in agribusiness for more than 24 years. Between 2008 and 2019 he traded an average of 5,000 to 10,000 tonnes of maize a year, plus some 1,450 tonnes of rice. That business built him a wide network of growers, suppliers and trade customers.

With UMM, his ambition is to take a further step: to move from trading agricultural raw materials to processing them industrially in Mali, creating more value locally and carrying Malian agro-industrial know-how to West African markets.

Our customers

Trust built to last

Our company owes its longevity to its knowledge of the trade, but also to the relationships of trust built with its customers. Our network today includes wholesalers in Bamako, Koutiala and Sikasso, distributing maize flour, semolina and bran.

We stay attentive to how their needs change, to their specifications and to regulatory requirements. Having consolidated that home market, we are preparing to export our grits, semolina and maize flour to several West African countries.
